Cardamom mini donuts recipe for Valentine

I don't know what the mini versions of anything that usually feel like, especially in baking. Seen objectively, they are only small products, but I can't help seeing them as cute. On the other hand, they are very practical for parties or gatherings of friends, and also allow us to "sin" a little less when eating them. In any case, I think these Cardamom mini donuts are ideal for Valentine's Day.

In reality, the dough is not the same as the sweet we all know as a donut. This is a quick, light and fairly liquid consistency recipe perfect for use in donut molds. I have used a donut machine, but with suitable molds they can be baked without problems. They are very tender and aromatic, but the special touch is given by the decoration, which can be as sweet and ornate as we want.

Ingredients for about 24 mini donuts

  • For the mini donuts: 100 grams of sugar, 110 grams of baking flour, 1 and 1/4 teaspoon of chemical yeast (impeller), 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence, 120 ml of milk, 1 egg L, 20 gr of melted butter.
  • For the glaze: 30 ml of honey, 65 gr of icing sugar, necessary milk, decorations to taste.

Preheat the oven to 200ºC and prepare a tray with mini donut molds, or prepare the donut machine, if you have it. In a medium bowl, mix the flour with the chemical yeast (impeller), salt and cardamom. Grate the skin of the orange and rub with the sugar to acquire its aroma. Add the egg, milk, vanilla and butter, beating lightly with some rods.

Incorporate the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix gently until a homogeneous dough. Fill a pastry bag or a freezer bag with the dough. Cut the tip and spread the dough into the cavities of the mold, without filling them completely.

Bake at medium height for about 5 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool on a rack. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl, add the honey and milk necessary to get a creamy and dense texture. Glaze the mini donuts and garnish With decorations to taste.

Tasting

Once the glaze has dried well, we can arrange the mini cardamom donuts in a pretty tray, wrap them as a gift or simply store them in an airtight container. They endure well a couple of days, although they are richer freshly made. Instead of covering them with the glaze they can be bathed in molten chocolate, being white perhaps the most suitable for Valentine's Day.
